My name is Einar Aasen, I live in Trondheim, Norway.
All my paintings are in watercolour, most are landscapes and seascapes, but I also paint some portraits.
Many motifs are places I have been or people I know. Other paintings are imagined landscapes or seascapes that I put together. I also paint commissioned paintings.
I started painting when I was about 32 years of age. At first there were evening classes with still life motifs. Later we also painted people. I very much enjoyed these classes. After some years I decided to turn to painting landscapes and seascapes. My inspiration is how light can transform a landscape and turn all textures in a scene into something beautiful. I want to try to portray that.
I quit classes and started studying paintings in general and watercolour in particular. A couple of hundred books, videos, DVDs and many hundreds of paintings later I can safely say that my studies will never be over. 25 years after I started in watercolour there is always more to learn and find out.
